This fun event, sponsored by the Royalton Hartland Business and Professional Association, features tastings from the best of local wines from wineries on the Niagara Wine Trail, chocolate from Barker Chocolate Box, cheese, food from local vendors, all served with live music playing some great big band sounds courtesy of the Easy Street Big Band from 4:30 to 6:30 PM. There will be multiple tents set up for your comfort at Music in the Park – just bring a lawn chair as we are holding the event rain or shine!

Discussed: Music in the Park Event (Wine, Cheese & Chocolate) Sunday, July22nd. There will be a variety of food vendors. Wendy is pricing promotional signs. Posters & fliers will need to be distributed. Lisa has access to directional signs for the rest rooms. More details at next meeting.
4th of July Parade: Maedl’s Woodcraft Pick up Truck will be decorated with the business names on stars. Whatever businesses want to participate can just show up and get in the line up at the Hartland Bible Church parking lot at 3:00.
RHBPA will purchase $100.00 worth of candy for the parade route.
July 28th – Town of Hartland Sesquicentennial Event @ Hartland Town Park – there are applications for local businesses. Set up @ 8am, starts at noon.
Budget Vote – May 15th, Roy-Hart High School Gym – To save the Library, remember to vote NO On Proposition 2.
Memorial Day, May 28th – Mark Weld’s artwork will be at The Lamplighter Gallery on Main St., Middleport.

Old Business:
- The Speed Marketing Event went very well. It was nice for RHBPA and Medina Business Association members to meet and promote their businesses. A huge thank you to Lisa Trippensee and Vonda Westcott for organizing the event. Thank you to Leonard Oakes Winery for the great service and to all the businesses that provided food. The cost for food, plates and napkins was $201.15.
- We discussed having the event once a year with the next one to be in the Fall of 2013 on a Wednesday evening again.A $100.00 donation will be made to the Girl Scouts’ Flower Barrel Contest. We discussed the need for new flower barrels. Patt Fagan and Ann Busch will contact local businesses to solicit donations for new barrels for the Middleport Business District.

- The Winterfest Event went very well this year. Everyone was happy having all the activities in one building again.
- Thank you to Patt Fagan for doing a great job organizing the Annual Dinner Meeting and sending the Invitations.
New Business:
- Greg motioned for RHBPA to buy an ad in the Roy-Hart Musical program for $100.00, which was carried by a show of hands vote.
- Advertising the Speed Marketing Event was also approved.
- The Rotary Club is taking over the Labor Day Midddleport Festivities which will enable RHBPA to continue the Goat Chip Bingo fundraiser.
- The ballot count indicated that most of the members would like to continue to hold morning RHBPA meetings at one location, Darrell’s. Some members would like an occasional evening meeting, possibly twice a year- place to be determined.
- The RHBPA has their own website now at RoyaltonHartlandBusiness.com. About half of the membership has submitted their info for their FREE online listing. If you have not, please do so. The RHBPA Membership Business Directory can be found here.
- Speed Marketing Event – Wed, March 7th , 6-8PM – Set up for businesses starts at 5PM. Applications will be e-mailed and must be returned to Lisa Trippensee at Apple Blossom Florist, 530 Main St. Medina, NY 14103. Hope to see you there!

Agenda Items: The annual dinner meeting in January was discussed. Darrell’s Place is the location and it was decided that Wednesday, January 25th will be the date beginning at 6 p.m. with a cash (wine/beer) mixer with dinner being served at 6:30. An invitation to all business association members will be sent out soon with all the details. As in the past the association will pay for half of one members dinner per business. Guests are at full price. Payment is due in full when reservation is sent in. The dinner will include a selection of main menu items, a potato, vegetable and choice of soup or salad, beverage and a sundae for dessert. The cost this year is $14 per person ($7 for one business member). Plan on attending and networking with fellow association members. This is a great opportunity to meet and greet other business owners.

- Winterfest Update: The Lion’s Club sent out Sponsor/Vendor forms. Business owners can reserve a space to display products or brochures. Basket or Gift Certificate donations are needed for the Basket Auction. This is a very popular fundraiser which provides good exposure for your business.
- Discussed: The annual RHBPA dinner – a motion was made and passed to have the dinner at Darrell’s in January. RHBPA will pay half the cost for members, guests would pay full price. More details at the Dec. meeting.
- A motion was made and passed to have the speed marketing event at Leonard Oakes Estates Winery which will be free of charge in exchange for a two year RHBPA Membership. Members can participate for free and non-members would pay $25.00 which could be applied to an associate membership fee.
- Upcoming Events: Sat., Nov. 26th_ Medina’s Olde Tyme Christmas Celebration 10am to 7:30 PM, Parade of Lights @ 6 PM.
- Fri., Dec. 2nd – Village of Middleport Tree Lighting at Main & Park Ave. Join us at 6:30 PM to sing a Christmas carol outside and then inside the Universalist Church Hall for cookies, cocoa and carols. - Speed Marketing Event possibly at Lynoaken Wed. March 7th, “Wednesday at The Winery”. Vendors would pay a fee of about $15.00. Restaurants will be asked if they want to feature some food samples. Set up would start at 5:00pm. Medina Business Association is interested in doing a combined event. Come with any other ideas you may have. More details to be worked out at the next meeting.
- Winterfest Steering Committee – Helen Feron is not able to continue as head of the committee, but will help with the transition. Our guests, Joan Nachtrub and Charlotte Doerfel from the Gasport Lions Club are considering taking over the organizing of the event. About $3200 –$3400 in the account is available to them. The Winterfest Treasurer will provide the financial info. The Roy-Hart Superintendent is willing to support the event by providing custodial services, tables etc. They would need the help and support of RHBPA members as well. Consider joining in the fun of this event as a vendor to promote your products or to help where needed.
- Upcoming Event: Sat., Nov. 26th – The Parade of Lights @6:00pm in Medina with activities throughout the day, sponsored by the Medina Business Association

More on Music in the Park/Wine & Chocolate Event: Wayne Blumrick has all the ticket stubs with people’s names and addresses so announcement cards can be sent out next year. Professional signs should be made to promote the event.
$100 was approved for the Girl Scouts to plant mums in the flower barrels.
April suggested more activities to coincide with the Tree Lighting Ceremony, possibly a sleigh ride with reindeer. Alternative Grounds may have a Christmas Tea. Bring your ideas to the next meeting.

Discussed:
• Music in the Park/Wine Tasting Event had mostly great feedback by attendees. A few changes will be made on the tickets for next year to allow people to check a box if they want their ticket to go into the drawing for the balloon ride. A separate raffle for the balloon ride was suggested, also the idea to have tethered rides available which could possibly get us a better price. Directional signs are needed for the Restrooms as well as 30 promotional signs. It was decided that the tables and chairs should be rented along with the tent to reduce clean up work.
• Next year there will be committees formed to handle organizing, advertising and promotion, set up and break down to more evenly distribute the work load.
• A huge thank you to all who worked so hard to make this first time event so successful!
• Thank you Andy Twarowski and FMC for providing the Hot Air Balloon Ride for the event!

Wayne Blumrick, Village Trustee and retired music teacher from Lyndonville, was introduced to the other members present.
Old Business: Thanks were bestowed upon members for their support with the “Plant-A-Barrel” contest in the Village of Middleport. All but one barrel was claimed.
Treasurer’s Report: Through May 31, 2011 we have a positive balance of $2612.31.
Upcoming Events:
The July 4th Parade lineup begins at 2 PM in the parking lot of the Hartland Bible Church in Gasport. Parade procession will begin promptly at 3 PM. RHBPA will purchase $100 worth of candy for this event. Any float is free to enter.
The Wine and Cheese Tasting event is scheduled for Sunday July 24th from 4:30p – 8:30 PM. It will be held at the pavilion behind the Lutheran Church in Middleport. Entertainment provided by the “Easy Street Big Band Sound” from 6-8 PM Vendors will include Yancey’s Fancy Cheese, Alternative Grounds Caffe, and The Chocolate Box. Invitations are out to Darrell’s Rest. and Pizza Place. Wineries to be invited include Vizcarra, Leonard Oaks, Black Willow, and Schultz. Admission will be $10/adult, with ½ price offered to members of the band only. A 20’ x 40’ tent will be rented to help accommodate vendors. Signage for advertising needs to be secured ASAP. RHBPA to pay for advertising and promo materials. It was suggested that a village permit be obtained and the neighborhood be alerted to the event. Also, consideration should be given to port-a-potties and security.
Goat Chip Bingo tickets will be mailed out August 1st for members to sell.

Discussion: Winterfest 2011
Attendance this year was about 400 including 248 adults which was fewer than last year. Bad weather predictions may have been a factor. The general consensus is that having the event take place in one building is better. This will be possible for next year since the new wing of the school is complete. There was positive feedback about the activities.
Planning for Winterfest 2012 starts in April! It would be great to have more volunteers to help with the planning and organizing stage.
Thank you to Helen Feron and Heather MacDonald and all the vendors and volunteers for the great job they did.
The annual Dinner Mixer was well attended with 26 businesses represented.
