Spring has sprung and it’s time to learn something new. Mary Ann is now teaching spinning classes on Wednesday evenings from 7-8:30 PM at A Stroka Gene-us Alpaca Farm, 10314 Johnson Road in Middleport.
And you don’t have to worry that you don’t have the right equipment! They have wheels for you to use so you are ready to go. The cost is only $10 per class but if you purchase a wheel there is a 50% discount.

A Stroka Gene-us Alpacas – Educating the Community About Alpaca Farming
We welcome the community to participate in an Alpaca Farm Tour. We provide tours for school groups and host community farm tours.
Because Alpaca Farming is a labor of love, A Stroka Gene-us Alpacas, 10314 Johnson Road, Middleport NY wishes to share this process with others, from raising newborn Alpacas to harvesting their fiber and turning it into a finished product. After the farm tour, we welcome guests to browse our farm store.
While on our farm tour, you will meet Snow & Ice, our great white pyrenees livestock guard dogs and some of our 30+ chickens. When I visited the farm store at A Stroka Gene-us Alpacas, 10314 Johnson Road in Middleport this weekend, I wanted to buy one of these adorable sweaters for kids – but I have none on my list!
There were a great selection of sweaters for little boys and girls in every color made from an alpaca blend so they are just as soft and warm as they are cute. Each one is different too – they have their own designs but they are all so cute, it’s hard to pick one that you like best.
And to my amazement, these amazing sweaters are only $22! How I wished I had someone to buy one for. I settled for some reversible mittens in teal and cream and some warm boot inserts and socks made from – of course – alpaca!

A Stroka Gene-us Alpacas is a small family farm in Middleport, New York which is 20 minutes south of Lake Ontario next to the Iroquois National Wildlife Refuge. We are five minutes from the Tonawanda Indian Reservation and in the heart of apple country, and only 15 minutes north of the I-90 at exit 48A.
All of our alpacas are ARI registered, BVD free and health checked with monthly wormings. At this time, we have 31 alpacas and our concentration is on raising great quality colored animals.
We have a farm store attached to the barn with viewing windows into the barn that is fully stocked with alpaca products from local, national, and Peruvian artisans. And you can see and purchase alpaca items online in our store.

It was a celebration of National Alpaca Farms Days and a new baby arrived!
On Sunday, September 25 a new little alpaca was born, right in the middle of the National Alpaca Farms Days celebration at A Stroka Gene-us Alpacas, 10314 Johnson Road in Middleport, New York. (National Alpaca Farms Days took place on Saturday and Sunday, September 24 & 25.)
Not only did visitors get a free farm tour, learn at fiber arts demonstrations, looked at all the amazing alpaca clothing and craft items inside the alpaca farm store and even enjoyed some lunch, they got to see so many beautiful alpacas, including the newborn baby alpaca pictured here.
A Stroka Gene-us Alpaca Farm is available for your group or organization to visit. We do special tours that can include spinning demonstrations, learning about alpacas and their wool that is warmer than sheep wool and softer too – you can even feel it for yourself.
