April’s Bad News
About a month ago, April dropped on bomb on her customers that love Jamacian Me Crazy coffee. It was not being made by her roaster anymore. The days were long and somewhat bleaker in the weeks that followed.
January Changes All That
But then one bright sunny January morning, April made the clouds disappear. She found another roaster that made Jamacian Me Crazy coffee and we were back in business, sipping and enjoying this mild and nutty coffee. It’s back in the lineup at the Alternative Grounds Caffe and things are all good.

The brew is smooth, bold, and flavorful! Choose your favorite roast or try something new. You can watch this process work its magic right in front of you.
How does it work?
The water is heated, causing pressure to force the liquid up into the top chamber, where it mixes with the grounds. Then the heat is reduced, and the lower chamber starts to cool, creating a vacuum. That sucks the water back down again, passing through a filter on the way. You end up with a smooth, delicate brew with little to no bitterness; certainly one of the best ways to draw out the flavors of an individual bean.

Well, I did my part. I tasted these fresh baked dinner rolls that come with your salad at the Alternative Grounds Caffe, 17 Main Street in Middleport. They were delicious.
I knew I was in for a treat when I walked in and the smell of freshly baked bread greeted me. I was only going in for a coffee, but ordered a salad and roll because I had to have what I was smelling. (I even took a photo of them – see left.)
Now that the ladies at the AG are baking their own breads and rolls, they need some feedback on what you prefer. When you order your sandwich or salad, be sure to let them know what you think of the bread served with your meal. I gave my thumbs up for the dinner rolls. And then, I tried guessing what I was tasting that was a bit different…
I thought it was butter. It was not. The delicious taste was from another mystery ingredient that you can find out if you go to the shop and ask – I am not telling. My mom always told me that it is good for a woman to be a bit mysterious.
