You can have a counter top made in what is known as solid surface. They are usually acrylic or polyester, or a mixture of both. They look nice because they are molded to your space, and therefore they can be seamless. The most popular brands are DuPont Corian and Swanstone. But here’s what you need to consider:
Pros – while the solid surface counter tops are more affordable than stone, very durable, stain resistant, low maintenance and come in a wide variety of colors and patterns….
Cons – they can be damaged by high direct heat (hot pans), they can scratch and can be more expensive than laminates, costing anywhere from $40 to $80 per foot installed.
