How to Prolong Your Carpet’s Life
Nothing lasts forever but there are some things you can do to prolong the life of your carpet.
Grit and soils get trapped in the fibers and erode the fibers as you walk on them. If you can imagine a troop of tiny woodsmen clearing trees, you can understand what sandy grit does to the base of the carpet fibers.
Each footstep rubs the grit against the fibers, cutting away at them. Gradually fibers are weakened and destroyed. The carpet begins to look worn and tired. When carpet wears and needs replacement prematurely, money is wasted.
What can you do? First, vacuum regularly and be sure to use a quality vacuum cleaner wtih a beater bar that just barely tickles the upper end of the fibers. Clean up spots and spills before they have a chance to settle in the fibers, and have your carpets professionally cleaned at least once a year.
